BSMI is the abbreviation of “Bureau of Standards, Metrology and Inspection”.

According to the announcement from Taiwan MOEA (Ministry of Economics Affairs), the products imported into Taiwan shall be regulated in respects of safety and electromagnetic compatibility.

The following 3 authentication methods are provided according to different products:
a) Type approval batch-by-batch inspection or authentication login
Accounting machines, cash registers, analogue or hybrid automatic data processing machines, portable digital automatic data processing machines, other digital automatic data processing machines, other digital automatic data processing machines; digital project processing units, terminals, dot matrix printers, laser printers, daisy wheel printers, other printers, keyboards, video scanners, other input or output units, with a special program-controlled calculator with memory and word processors, magnetic or optical readers, machines for data processing of the input data input device(excluded in section8471.41 or 8471.49); the other section 8471 of the automatic data processing machines, automatic teller machines, uninterruptible power supply (not exceeding 10 KVA capacity by), the other uninterruptible power supply, with translation or dictionary functions for electrical machines, data processing system with mapping tables and machines and data processing systems and other mapping products . Total 25 product category.

b) Authentication login
Static converters for automatic data processing machines and units thereof and other switching power supply shall be transferred from inspection by declaration of conformity to product authentication login.
c) Declaration of conformity
1. Pocket-size data machine with calculation function, reproducing and displaying machines, electronic calculators (not using EPS), electronic calculators with listing apparatus, other electronic calculators, hard disk drives, floppy disk drive, CD-ROM, other disk drives, other storage units, other automatic data processing unit.
2. Word processors, typewriters, electric typewriters, other electric typewriters, Braille typewriters (weight not exceeding 12 kg), Braille typewriters (weighing more than 12 kg), non-electric typewriter (weight not exceeding 12 kg), the other non-electric typewriter shall be conformity declaration inspection.
3. Electronic calculators (without external power operator), an internal magnetic (optical) disc players, computer motherboards and add-in card are exempt from safety regulation.
