South Korean Ministry of Knowledge Economy (MKE) on August 25, 2008 announced that the National Standards Committee will implement a new national unity certification mark from July 2009 to December 2010 to, called "KC Mark" logo.
The new logo is called the KC Mark, on behalf of Korea Certification. The existing 13 kinds of flag will be eventually forced into this new unified sign.

According to "Korea Electrical Appliance and Material Safety Administration Law" stipulates that from 1 January 2009 onwards Electrical Appliance Safety certification is divided into compulsory certification and self-discipline (voluntary) certification.
Mandatory certification means: all products belonging to the mandatory electronic products must obtain KC Mark certification before they can be sold in the Korean market. Annual factory inspection and product sampling tests are needed.
Self-regulation (voluntary) certification means: all electronic products belonging to voluntary products just need to be tested and obtain the certificate, no factory inspection. Certificate is valid for five years. |
