According to the relevant regulations promulgated by NTRA, all the telecommunication apparatus including terminal equipments, radio telecommunication equipments used in Egypt shall obtain NTRA certification.

Applicable Standards for NTRA Type Certification
NTRA approval includes the international certificate and mark of CE and FCC. That is, before application for NTRA type certification, the telecommunication equipment shall meet the CE and FCC rules requirements, pass the relevant standards tests and obtain the certificate and paste the corresponding marks. Adopted standards for applying NTRA certification for telecommunication are:
Telecom/Radio – ETSI, ASA, FCC, ITU
EMC/EMI – CENELEC, IEC, ASA
Safety/Health – CENELEC, IEC, ASA, UL, FCC

NTRA Certification for Radio Terminal Equipment
The radio terminal product’s frequency range shall first meet the provision of radio frequency range partition of NTRA. The CE and FCC certification requirements for radio terminal equipment are different. CE certified products shall meet the R&TTE directive standards about electrical safety, electromagnetic, RF, life safety. FCC mainly considers about electromagnetic, RF and life safety conformity, FCC certified products shall meet the provision of 47 CFR Part 2, Part 22 and Part 24, apply and obtain the audit certification from TCB.

NTRA Certification for Telecommunication Terminal Equipment
For telecommunication terminal products connecting to public telecommunication net, The CE certification mainly consider about the electrical safety, electromagnetic and performance, through testing according to standards EN 60950-1, EN 55022 and EN 55024 and TBR 21/38 of port performance test standards. The certification method is manufacturer own declaration or NB certification. FCC mainly considers about the electromagnetic, electrical safety, shall meet the relevant provision for 47 CFR Part 68, through tests according to TIA-968-A, the certification method is manufacturer own declaration or obtain TCB certification.

Factory Inspection and Pre-shipment Inspection
Factory inspection is one ring of the type certification program, which means that the lab will check the relevant certification and documents provided when product enterprises applying for test certification and the production line. The certificate must in compliance with the productive and business scope identified by ISO quality system certification. If necessary, the lab will review the quality items of product consistency and quality testing capabilities.
Pre-shipment inspection is that the recognized institution will perform the pre-shipment authentication based on the result of factory inspection and testing certification, which include the conformity of products and samples, products number. If necessary, the recognized institution may perform tests on the proposed shipment products to ensure the product conformity real and effective.
